About Golden Beavers Scholarships

Golden Beavers Scholarships

The Golden Beavers Scholarship Program is meant to stimulate, within the Ballard student body, the desire to achieve goals that prepare them for advanced education and/or training upon graduation. Financial support for these scholarships is derived through donations, memorial contributions, wills and bequests. Since 1988, more than 500 students have received over $1.2 million in scholarships. (This includes the addition of 10-years of life-changing Hughbanks Family Scholarships, bequeathed by the estate of Ballard High School Foundation co-founder C. David Hughbanks '54 in 2023.)

Selecting & Presenting Our Scholarship Winners

Each year the BHS Counseling Staff picks student applicants who they feel would be good candidates for Golden Beavers Scholarships. Each applicant submits a letter of recommendation along with their resume including school and community activities, work experience, special honors, and awards. We have nine committee members who have volunteered to interview the candidates and select the scholarship winners, who are presented with their awards at our Annual Scholarship Luncheon
